5 Things to do for Valentine’s Day 2021

From the classic romantic meal to a quirky day out to the museum, Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to head out on a romantic trip. But for 2021, we’ll be spending the day in a different way!

While it’s easy to forget about the day with everything going on right now, we think you should definitely do something special with your boo; after all we all need a bit of cheering up this lockdown! We’ve had a little brainstorm and thought of the 5 best things to do for Valentine’s Day 2021…

Cocktail Night

We’d normally find ourselves heading to the nearest cocktail bar, but we can’t this year (sob). So, we’re bringing the bar to us! Why not stock up on a cocktail making kit and have some fun making your own? Just stock up on some glasses, a shaker, all the accessories; and most importantly, alcohol and juice.

Here’s our fave cocktail recipe for you to try- a strawberry mimosa:

  1. Grab some chopped strawberries, a tablespoon of sugar, champagne and more sliced strawberries
  2. In a blender, blend your chopped strawberries, sugar and champagne
  3. Garnish with a strawberry slice- easy!

What to wear:

We miss fancy frocks, so for our cocktail night, we’ll be going all out with some gorgeous dresses.

Movie Marathon

We suspect you may already be doing a lot of this, so this movie marathon needs some extra organisation! Stock up on the choc, popcorn, ice cream and all your favourite snacks. Hunt down the best rom-coms or watch each of your favourite films and make a night of it.

What to wear:

This is all about comfort and snuggling up on the sofa with cosy knits and comfy shapes.

Takeaway

Whether you have a takeaway a lot or it’s a real treat, it saves all that prep time and washing up! Choose something extra special or just choose a favourite- plus a lot of restaurants are offering a takeaway service while the premises are shut, so you can pick something totally different. Alternatively, why not take up the offers in the supermarkets? The M&S Food £20 Dine In has our names on it.

What to wear:

Something cute, but with room for that food baby.

Zoom date

Not with your boo this year? Arrange a zoom date. You could cook a meal together over FaceTime, set up a Prime Watch Party, or order in a takeaway- pick the same takeaway for both of you, or choose each other’s meals! Some venues might even be doing a special where they’ll ensure you both receive your food at the same time for a romantic meal over the screen.

What to wear:

The Zoom mullet- party up top, joggers down below.

Outdoor (or indoor🥶) picnic

Lay out your blanket, grab some snacks and picnic sandwiches, and stock up with prosecco- a picnic is a super sweet way to spend Valentine’s Day! Head outside in your warmest coat if you can brave it, or stick to the warmth of the radiator (bonus points if you can have a picnic by the fireplace) and keep your picnic inside.

What to wear:

This one’s all about keeping warm with cost knits and the snuggliest coat.
